While Prometheus may not have climbed the box office chart due to a couple of animals, it did just fine here, unseating the two week reign of MIB 3 to take the gold.

1 PROMETHEUS
2 SNOW WHITE & THE HUNTSMAN
3 MEN IN BLACK 3
4 THE AVENGERS

6 THE VOW

10 GONE

Men in Black must seriously have benefitted from 3D sales because this week Snow White and the Huntsman managed to maintain it’s second place while MIB dropped to third. In the states The two big winners were Prometheus and Madagascar 3 which managed to beat out Ridley Scott’s semi-prequel by a whopping 10 million clams for an estimated $60 million. Knocked off the charts is Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows, a film that hasn’t received much praise at all and while clinging to the top 10 like a dirty rat, all ships do eventually sink. Overall I would say that the biggest winner is The Avengers which despite many repeat viewings, still remains strong to this day.

Prometheus lands on top but for how long?

This week sees a mixed bag hitting cinemas – first up we’ve got Catch .44 which received a direct to DVD in other territories (lets hope that isn’t an indication of its quality). Also coming out is the comedy What to Expect when you’re Expecting, and a review that you can expect to see later this week. And the big sequel of the week – Madagascar 3: the animals are bringing their antics to the big screen once again but can it overcome the terrible 3…and the Europe? All will be revealed as week continues. My money is on Madagascar taking pole position, the likelihood is obvious due to its all ages rating.

What were your opinions on Prometheus? It didn’t get a lot of love from audiences
